Designed in the early 1980s by Vasyl Borodai, Kyiv’s Founder Monument in Navodnytsky park depicts Kyiv, Shcek, and Khoryv – the three Slavic princes who founded the city in the 6th century. Nowadays, a popular site for married couples to lay flowers, visitors to the park can see the gigantic statute of the Motherland Monument, another Borodai creation, from afar.
