Central Bus Station
Completed in 1961, Kyiv’s Central Bus Station features a mosaic-filled interior designed by Ada Rybachuk and Volodymyr Melnychenko. Appropriately depicting Kyiv’s gleaming highways and buses, the mosaics were painstakingly restored by teams of volunteers in 2020, following the privatisation of the station. In July 2021, the bus station reopened, allowing visitors to admire the freshly restored, gleaming mosaics in all their splendour.
SEEKYIV says:
“In March 2020, Kyiv Central Bus Station was privatisіed. What happened next was highly unusual for contemporary Kyiv. The new owner of the station decided to keep the mosaics in place and even fully restored it!”
